What is DesignoSaurus - The Design Thinking Contest for Kids & Teens?

Not a drawing competition. Not a quiz. A live design challenge — the kind Artshala has run in classrooms since 2018, now open to any curious kid & teen. Your child gets a real brief, a real deadline, and builds a real invention — the way an actual designer works, across architecture, visual design, fashion design, communication design, or product design.

No design background needed. Just curiosity, a pair of hands, and a week to prove what they can do.

Who Can Play

Students aged 6–18. No prior design training or Artshala enrolment required. Register solo or as a group. One entry per participant.

How It Works

1. Register — fill the form, confirm your spot.

2. Get the brief — your Design Challenge lands in your inbox or pick up your sealed envelope from our Noida centre.

3. Ideate, build, present — 07 days to turn the brief into a real invention.

4. Submit — up to 3 photos and one video of the student explaining their build.

5. Get judged — our design jury reviews everything and calls the winners on Instagram.

Can we use Ai?

Of course, but only as a reference — for research, brainstorming, working through a stuck idea. Just don’t let it build the invention for you: the object in your photos has to be real, physically built by the student. We inspect entries before declaring winners. Submit an AI-generated image of something that was never actually built, and that entry is disqualified immediately, no exceptions.

The Prizes

Three winners. One title: DesignoSaurus.

Mystery boxes. Vouchers and coupons. A spread of extra goodies. A signed Certificate of Achievement for each of the top 3. What’s inside the boxes stays sealed until announcement day.

FAQ

Is this an art contest? No. If your child can’t draw a straight line, they’re exactly who this is for. It tests design thinking, not drawing skill.

​

What will my child actually be asked to do? One brief from one of five design disciplines, delivered on the challenge-drop date. A week to ideate, build, and present a real answer to it.

​

Can my child use AI? As a reference tool, yes. The final invention must be physically built and photographed as-is — AI-generated images of an unbuilt invention get disqualified.

What do we submit? Up to 3 photos of the finished invention, and one video with the student visibly explaining it.

​

Is the registration fee refundable? No — non-refundable once registered, under any circumstance. 

​

Who picks the winners, and is it final? A jury of Artshala’s global design experts & practitioners. Their decision on the top 3 is final and binding.

​

What if we miss the challenge-drop email? Walk into our Noida centre after the drop date and collect a sealed envelope in person.

​

What do winners get? Mystery boxes, vouchers, coupons, goodies, and a Certificate of Achievement each — contents stay sealed until the results are announced.
